General Information
The Bio-Medical Library's collections are located on the second, third, and fourth floors of Diehl Hall. All electronic, print, and audio visual materials in the collection can be located by searching the University of Minnesota Libraries' catalog, MNCAT, electronic journals can be access through the E-journals catalog as well as MNCAT.
Collections Suggestions
The Bio-Medical Library's collections support the curricula and research of the Academic Health Center's Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Dentistry, the College of Pharmacy, and the Center for Allied Health Programs. The Veterinary Medical Library's collections support the College of Veterinary Medicine. We encourage suggestions from the University's Academic Health Cater personnel regarding the purchase of titles. If you wish to recommend a title for the collection, please complete this form.
Journal and Book Collections
The Bio-Medical Library subscribes to over 3,000 electronic journals and 500 print journals. The print journals are shelved alphabetically by title with titles starting with A-B on the third floor and C-Z on the second floor of Diehl Hall. The library also has a collection of over 160,000 books, audio visual, and other materials shelved on the fourth floor of Diehl Hall; and over 700 electronic books which can be access through MNCAT.
Wangensteen History of Medicine Collection
Located on the fifth floor of Diehl Hall, the Owen H. Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine is a collection of approximately 67,000 rare and out-of-print volumes, including books, manuscripts, and journals dating from the early 1400s to 1920. Items in this collection do not circulate, but can be use within the reading room of the Wangensteen Library.
