Diehl Hall is located within the U of M Academic Health Center, adjacent to the University of Minnesota Medical Center, the Mayo Memorial Building, and the Philips Wangensteen Building, on the East Bank of the Minneapolis campus area.

Driving Directions and Parking

The directions below lead to the Washington Avenue Parking Ramp at 501 Washington Ave. S.E., on the East Bank campus between Harvard and Union Streets. Hourly-rate parking is available in this ramp. For additional campus parking information, contact Parking Services at 612-626-PARK.

Directions via: I-94 * I-35W * Univ. Ave from St. Paul * from Wilson Library * from downtown Minneapolis

Via I-94

  1. Take Huron Boulevard exit (Exit 235B)
  2. Turn left on Washington Avenue SE
  3. Turn right onto Harvard St. S.E. (one-way street), just past the Radisson Hotel
  4. Follow Harvard around curve to Union St. S.E. (also one-way)
  5. Turn left onto Union, and park in the Washington Avenue Ramp on the left
  6. A tunnel from the ramp will take you to Moos Tower
  7. Follow the signs within the tunnel to the Bio-Medical Library (Diehl Hall)

Via I-35W

  1. Take University Avenue/4th Street exit (Exit 18)
  2. Turn onto University Avenue (one-way street traveling southeast)
  3. Turn right onto Oak Street SE (the corner with Williams Arena on the right)
  4. Turn right again on Washington Avenue SE
  5. Turn right onto Harvard St. S.E. (one-way street), just past the Radisson Hotel
  6. Follow Harvard around curve to Union St. S.E. (also one-way)
  7. Turn left onto Union, and park in the Washington Avenue Ramp on the left
  8. A tunnel from the ramp will take you to Moos Tower
  9. Follow the signs within the tunnel to the Bio-Medical Library (Diehl Hall)

Via University Avenue from St. Paul

  1. Turn left from University Ave. onto Washington Avenue SE, just past Baker's Square Restaurant
  2. Turn right onto Harvard St. S.E. (one-way street), just past the Radisson Hotel
  3. Follow Harvard around curve to Union St. S.E. (also one-way)
  4. Turn left onto Union, and park in the Washington Avenue Ramp on the left
  5. A tunnel from the ramp will take you to Moos Tower
  6. Follow the signs within the tunnel to the Bio-Medical Library (Diehl Hall)

Via Washington Avenue from Wilson Library

  1. Take Riverside Avenue west to Cedar Avenue
  2. Turn right onto Cedar Avenue
  3. Turn right onto eastbound Washington Avenue SE
  4. Turn left onto Harvard St. S.E. (one-way street), just past the Washington Avenue Ramp and before the Radisson Hotel
  5. Follow Harvard around curve to Union St. S.E. (also one-way)
  6. Turn left onto Union, and park in the Washington Avenue Ramp on the left
  7. A tunnel from the ramp will take you to Moos Tower
  8. Follow the signs within the tunnel to the Bio-Medical Library (Diehl Hall)

Via 4th Street/Washington Avenue from downtown Minneapolis

  1. Take 4th Street east across Mississippi River (street name changes to Washington Avenue SE)
  2. Turn left onto Harvard St. S.E. (one-way street), just past the Washington Avenue Ramp and before the Radisson Hotel
  3. Follow Harvard around curve to Union St. S.E. (also one-way)
  4. Turn left onto Union, and park in the Washington Avenue Ramp on the left
  5. A tunnel from the ramp will take you to Moos Tower
  6. Follow the signs within the tunnel to the Bio-Medical Library (Diehl Hall)

Building Access Restrictions

Access to the Academic Health Center is restricted to specific entrances during evenings and weekends due to University Police security measures. This affects access to the Bio-Medical Library, as the street level doors to Diehl Hall are locked. In addition, at the AHC entrances, all staff and students will need to show a University of Minnesota ID, and all others will need to show a picture ID and sign in/out with their destination.

Access to the Bio-Medical Library in Diehl Hall, is restricted as follows:

Weekday nights, 8:00pm-11:00pm - Monitored access into the AHC via: Washington Avenue entrance to Moos Tower (street level access), tunnel from Washington Avenue Parking Ramp (handicapped accessible), and tunnel from University of Minnesota Medical Center (handicapped accessible).

Sunday night, 6:00pm-11:00pm - Monitored access into the AHC via: tunnel from Washington Avenue Parking Ramp (handicapped accessible), and tunnel from University of Minnesota Medical Center (handicapped accessible) Note: Street level access to Moos Tower is not available on weekends.
