"What is Ovid?"

Ovid Technologies, Inc. is a software company specializing in the development of text retrieval applications and search interfaces for journal indexes like MEDLINE, and other databases. Ovid provides a single, powerful, easy-to-use search interface that allows you to mine the basic science and clinical literature. Using the Ovid system via the Web* has the added benefit of an integrated, hyperlinked environment - you can link directly to selected electronic journals from a MEDLINE search or link from a cited reference in a full-text article to a CINAHL record. *Note that Ovid telnet access is still available.

"What is MICROMEDEX?"

MICROMEDEX contains current information on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including administration and dosage, adverse effects, drug interactions, and information for patients.It consists of a collection of resources that can be searched either simultaneously or individually. These resources include DRUGDEX; POISINDEX; Martindale, the Extra Pharmacopoeia; Index Nominum; Physician's Desk Reference; USP DI; and several others. Information ranges from full monographs on hundreds of drugs to practical tools such as dosing calculators. MICROMEDEX also includes emergency medicine information (e.g., range of toxicity, clinical effects, and treatment options).

"What is images.md?"

images.md is a database of over 48,000 high-quality images encompassing all aspects of internal medicine by the publisher Current Science Ltd. Collections range from allergy to urology and each image is accompanied by authoritative text written by the leading experts in the field. Free registration is required to save images into an image library for downloading into a PowerPoint presentation, creating handouts, or for purchasing a CD-ROM.

"What is UpToDate?"

UpToDate is an electronic resource that contains summaries of published evidence and specific recommendations to answer clinical questions that arise in daily practice. Physician editors and authors review and update content on a continuous basis and a new, peer-reviewed version is issued every four months. Areas covered include internal medicine and subspecialities, obstetrics and gynecology, family practice, and pediatrics.

*Due to the terms of the license agreement with UpToDate, access is limited to the Academic Health Center (AHC) and Bio-Medical Library only, and is not accessible off-site, in libraries or departments outside of these areas or from home.
