Elaine Challacombe, curator of the Owen H. Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine, recently published "The Art of Anatomy," available in the July 2006 issue of Minnesota Medicine. Her article highlights historical examples of the mix of art and anatomy, a topic making headlines today because of Gunther von Hagens' Body Worlds exhibit. Early examples of anatomical art--spanning six centuries--can be found in the Wangensteen Library's anatomy atlas collection.
