Loansome Doc - Articles for Non-Affiliated Health Professionals and Individuals

Request Articles via Loansome Doc

Patrons who are health professionals or individuals not affiliated with the University of Minnesota may request articles from the Bio-Medical Library through the National Library of Medicine's Loansome Doc service, provided that the materials are used for non-commercial purposes.

The Biomedical Information Service provides materials for other non-University of Minnesota clients and businesses. Interlibrary Loan is also available to academic, hospital, and public libraries.

Instructions for Registering for Loansome Doc Service at the Bio-Medical Library

  1. Download and complete the Bio-Medical Library's Loansome Doc Registration Form. Return the completed form by fax (612-626-2454) or by email (biomdoc@umn.edu). Once your registration has been accepted, you will receive an Authorization Code.
  2. Go to NLM's Loansome Doc Registration website.
  3. Read through the registration steps and then click skip this step to register directly with the Bio-Medical Library. (Click Get Started if you are interested in searching for another library supplier.)
  4. Enter the Library Identifier (LIBID) for the Bio-Medical Library (MNUMIN) or another library of your choice and click Continue.
  5. Enter the Authorization Code and then select the category from the drop-down window that best describes you and click Continue.
  6. Read the Loansome Doc Terms of Use, check the box to indicate your acceptance of your library's policies and procedures, and click the Accept button.
  7. Create your Login information by entering your email address.
  8. Create a password.
  9. Enter your address information, document delivery and ordering preferences and click Continue.
  10. Verify your information and click Complete Registration button.
  11. Once your registration is complete, your may begin submitting article requests through PubMed and NLM Gateway. For instructions on how to request articles, see NLM's Loansome Doc Fact Sheet.

Charges

Base Charge* $11.00 per article
Fax Delivery $6.50 per article
Rush Service $5.00 per article
    *The Base Charge includes electronic or mail delivery of Loansome Doc articles.
