Ordering Materials

There are several options available to University of Minnesota students, staff, and faculty who wish to order library materials. If you are not sure whether the books or articles you need to request are owned on campus or not, please consult MNCAT, the online catalog, when determining which service to use. If you are still uncertain, please contact the Reference Desk at (612) 626-3260 or medref@umn.edu for assistance.

 

Request Materials Owned by the University Libraries:
(Services available to current U of M students, staff, and faculty only)

  • PhotoDelivery
  • Provides photocopies for a fee from journals and books owned at the Bio-Medical Library.
  • Pull Service for Videos
  • Provides free pull and hold service for videos at the Bio-Medical library.
  • Get It
  • Provides free delivery of books with pickup options at holding library or a more convenient campus library. Faculty and staff may request delivery to their on-campus office.
  • Libraries to U
  • Provides off-campus delivery of books and electronic delivery of articles for a fee.

    Services are also available for the Law Library and the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library.

    Request Materials Not Owned by the University Libraries:
    (Services available to current U of M students, staff, and faculty only)

  • Interlibrary Loan
  • Provides copies of articles or loan of books not owned on campus. Available to students, staff and faculty.

    Request Materials Owned by the University Libraries:
    (Services available to non-affiliated patrons)

  • Biomedical Information Service
  • Provides ordering of library materials for non-University of Minnesota clients and businesses.

  • Loansome Doc
  • Provides articles for non-commercial use from the Bio-Medical Library's print collection to non-affiliated health professionals and individuals via the National Library of Medicine's Loansome Doc service.
  • ILL Services for Other Libraries
  • Provides Interlibrary Loan services to other academic, hospital, and public libraries.
